The Screenwriters Colony is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that relies on public support to operate. All gifts are fully tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Charitable contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations help the Colony continue its support of the film industry’s most talented, up-and-coming writers. The only program for screenwriters of its kind, each year the Colony offers industry-nominated writers a month-long residency in Nantucket – substantial, invaluable, rare creative time to devote to their craft. During the residence, the writers also have access to respected and diverse members of the film industry, from studio executives and managers to accomplished writers and directors, who serve as Colony Mentors. Colonists develop lasting creative relationships with their Mentors and each other and are presented with an extraordinary opportunity to improve themselves, their work, and, in turn, the genre of screenwriting. Your donations give exceptional talent the time and tools needed to create greatness. A contribution to The Screenwriters Colony is a contribution to the future of film.

Tax Status
The Screenwriters Colony is a nonprofit corporation that was founded in 2002 under the laws of the state of New York. It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

The Internal Revenue Service has certified that The Screenwriters Colony is not a private foundation as defined in Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as revised in 1969, and that the Colony is an organization described in Code Section 509(a)(2). Consequently, all gifts and bequests to the Colony are fully deductible for income and estate tax purposes.

Gift Form

Stock Gifts
Gifts of stock are an excellent way to make a contribution to The Screenwriters Colony and maximize the benefit of your gift. To the extent provided by law, the donation is fully tax-deductible at the total appreciated value of the stock at the time of the transfer.

Matching Gifts
The Screenwriters Colony gladly accepts matching gifts from your company. If your employer has a matching gifts program, your gift to the Colony could be doubled or tripled.

Please include a matching gift form when making your gift by mail. Matching gift forms are generally available through your employer’s human resources department.
