COLONY ALUMNI UPDATE

Mitchell Lichtenstein ('02) is developing several screenplays including ANJELICA, based on the novel by Arthur Phillips, and A CHARMED LIFE, adapted from Mary McCarthy’s tragicomic Roman à clef.

Alexandra Brodsky ('02) is currently working on BUST, for which she attended the at the FiND Screenwriting Lab. She is also directing the documentary AMERICAN BOLLYWOOD.

Silas Howard ('03) most recently directed the feature SUNSET STORIES which played at SXSW 2012. www.silashoward.com

Chase Palmer ('03) is in development on several scripts for Focus, FilmNation, Paramount and GK Films.

Steve Doughton ('03) is in pre-production on his feature, BUOY.

Megan Holley ('04) wrote THE DARKNESS, a thriller that is in pre-production.

Ben Robbins ('04) wrote two episodes of the upcoming ABC series, Final Witness (airing in June). His feature script The Kings of Camden was recently optioned by The American Film Co.

Brandon Maurice Williams ('04) – directed the short KILLING TIME in 2010.

Jennifer Maisel ('04) wrote DOUBLE WEDDING, a movie for Lifetime in 2010 and is currently working on screenplays for Mar Vista Entertainment and Contradiction Films. www.jennifermaisel.com

Victor Quinaz ('05) is in post-production on THE WEDDING VIDEO, a feature he co-wrote and directed produced by Anonymous Content and Before The Door Pictures. His online film series PERIODS. Films will open the HollyShorts Film Festival on August 9th. www.victorquinaz.com

Will Luers ('05) is a visiting professor at the Creative Media & Digital Culture program at Washington State University, Vancouver where he teaches multimedia authoring, video production and mobile app design.  He has been making short documentary and media art.

Annie Howell ('05) feature film, SMALL, BEAUTIFULLY MOVING PARTS played at SXSW and won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Prize at the 2011 Hamptons Film Festival and will open in NYC at Cinema Village on May 11, 2012. Bryce Kass ('05) is Bryce is currently in development on several feature projects under Ridley & Tony Scott’s Scott Free banner at 20th Century Fox. He is also in development on LIZZIE BORDEN, an HBO mini series through Tom Hanks’ The Playtone Company, and is working on an original true-horror project with Original Media.

Ted Kupper ('06) is in development on the feature NOW WAIT FOR LAST YEAR based on the book by Phlip K. Dick for Electric Shepherd Productions and Lila 9th Productions.

Sophie Barthes ('06) is set to direct Mia Wasikowska in a new adaptation of MADAME BOVARY.

John Summerour ('06) completed his feature SAHKANGA in 2011. It is currently on the festival circuit. www.sahkanaga.com

Yon Motskin ('06) has been directing television including Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Dual Survival.

Nicki Paluga ('07) is working on an adaptation of a YA book called Wings by Aprilynne Pike for Temple Hill and Disney, as well as developing an original pilot for HBO.

Paul Alexander ('07) is currently developing a cable TV series based on a published graphic novel he co-wrote.

Marc Arneson ('07) currently teaches screenwriting at UCLA. In 2009 his feature script JUST PECK, which was he polished during his time at the Screenwriters Colony was independently produced. Marc has also written internet shorts for the Game Show Network and in 2011 co-wrote and sold a half-hour pilot script to Fox Television Animation.

Sian Heder ('08) wrote for the television show Men of a Certain Age on TNT.  In 2012, Sian wrote, directed and produced the short film DOG EAT DOG. She is also in pre-production on her first feature TALLULAH.

Yamin Segal ('08) most recently Co-Produced the short film VIKING WIVES, written, directed and produced by fellow Colony alum, Victor Quinaz.

Jennifer Kushner ('08) is the Filmmaker Labs manager at Film Independent.

Roberto Bentivegna ('09) is in the process of getting his first feature, a western/noir, THE EEL, produced. He is attached to direct.

Jenny Deller ('09) has completed her feature film, FUTURE WEATHER, which she developed at the Screenwriters Colony after winning the Tony Cox Award for best screenplay at the 2009 Nantucket Film Festival.  It will premiere at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. www.futureweathermovie.com

Eva Vives ('09) is in her second year of the Disney Writers Program. She recently co-wrote a script with Ice Cube which he is directing called CHROME & PAINT.

Chris Galletta ('10) sold a pitch to New Line Cinema, an action comedy to be directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, which he’s currently polishing for the studio. He’s also outlining a new spec, a story about drummers in 1980s Brooklyn.  TOYS HOUSE is currently casting at Big Beach films.

Sarah Treem ('10) just finished writing a movie for Lifetime, is developing a pilot for HBO, and is Co-Executive producer on the new Netflix series, House of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey. Tamara Hernandez ('10) has been working on her spec FIREWORK ANIMAL HORSE.

Georgia Lin Sundling ('11) won third place in the Samuel Goldwyn Writing Awards for the script she developed at the Screenwriters Colony, THE LONG SHORT DROP.

Kaitlin McLaughlin ('11) is currently in pre-production on FIELD OF ELIGIBLES, an ensemble drama that she developed during her stay at the Screenwriters Colony.
