FUTURE WEATHER Premieres at Tribeca 2012

Jenny Deller ('09) and producer Kristin Fairweather started in 2006 from scratch: no money, no institutions, no Hollywood connections. Fueled by a belief in a script, entrepreneurial fervor, and a hunger to learn what it takes to make an independent film, they talked to anyone who would listen (and listened to anyone who would talk), created budgets, roped family and friends into fundraisers, and applied to every grant, lab and contest available.

In 2009, the film was selected from out of 2000 applicants as a semi-finalist in the Netflix FIND Your Voice competition, co-sponsored by Film Independent. This gave us the opportunity to work with actress Perla Haney-Jardine on a companion short film to FUTURE WEATHER called Save the Future. That spring, FUTURE WEATHER also won the Showtime Tony Cox Screenwriting Award from the Nantucket Film Festival and Jenny was sent to the Screenwriters Colony to work on her screenplay.

Slowly but surely, the project attracted financial supporters, collaborators and mentorship from producers Cora Olson and Jennifer Dubin, Film Independent, the Tribeca Film Institute, IFP and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. In 2010, they finally shot Future Weather in the Philadelphia area. Now the film will has its premiere April 29th at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Jenny and her producers are now looking for funds to help premiere the film which will hopefully lead to a sale and the eventual release of the film at a cinema near you. Head over to Kickstarter to view their worthy project and view the video below.
