JENNIFER ANISTON TAKES ON PATRICK TOBIN'S ('13) "CAKE"

2013 Colony alumni, Patrick Tobin's script "Cake" in development with Anniston signed on to star in and executive produce.

from Inside Movies:

“Jennifer Aniston will executive produce and star in Cake, a Black List script about a woman who becomes fascinated with the suicide of a woman in her chronic pain support group. According to a release from the newly forged Cinelou Films DHJ, Aniston’s character, “the acerbic, hilarious Claire Simmons” “uncovers the details of Nina’s suicide and develops a poignant relationship with Nina’s husband.”

Patrick expressed his excitement over the news, saying:

"now I know what a lottery winner must feel like. I think she'll be an amazing Claire and I can't wait to see who her co-stars will be."

Cake is based on Tobin’s original short story, which was first published in Kenyon Review and later in the 2008 Best American Nonrequired Reading anthology, edited by McSweeney’s publisher Dave Eggers.

Patrick won top prize in Showtime's Tony Cox Feature Film Screenplay Competition for Cake at last year’s Nantucket FilmFestival, earning him a slot in last October's Screenwriters Colony program. The project has been gathering steam over the past year, it's inclusion in the 2013 Black List further confirming the script's wide acclaim.
